Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Volunteer! Greenwood Little Theatre’s Final Call for Oz-Magic Makers

The Greenwood Little Theatre is summoning all hands on deck for one last push to bring the enchantment of The Wizard of Oz to life—and we need you to help us click our heels three times and make magic happen!

📅 Final Workday: Saturday, April 27 | Noon–3 p.m.
📍 Location: Davis Elementary School Auditorium, 400 Cotton St.

With opening night just weeks away, this Saturday is our last big volunteer day to perfect the costumes, sets, and backstage preparations. Whether you’re a seasoned seamstress, a crafting wizard, or simply eager to lend a hand, there’s a place for you in Emerald City (or behind the curtain!).

How You Can Help

🧵 Costume Crew Wanted!
Channel your inner Glinda or Tin Man by assisting with costumes! Skilled sewers and crafters are especially needed to add final sparkles to Dorothy’s gingham dress, the Wicked Witch’s cloak, and the tornado dancers’ whirlwind attire. Production Manager Alicia Dallas—who’s been hand-stitching costumes with love—says, “Collaborating on these designs has been a joy. Now, we’re so close to seeing it all come together!”

🎨 Set Design & Backstage Heroes
No magic wand? No problem! Help skirt the wing stages, organize props, deep-clean backstage areas, or restock bathrooms. Every task, big or small, ensures our production shines.

🎁 Donations Welcome!
Can’t volunteer? Donations are just as precious as ruby slippers! We’re seeking:

  • Sharp fabric scissors, ironing boards, storage bins, sturdy hangers

  • Green ribbon, red/green fabric (any material!), stone-looking beads, thread (all colors)

Drop off supplies at Davis Auditorium on Saturday or email Alicia to arrange a pickup.

Why Volunteer?

Director Kat Coxwell puts it perfectly: “‘The Wizard of Oz’ is a celebration of community spirit. Together, we’re creating something magical for Greenwood.” Join neighbors like Elizabeth Hinckley, Rachel Splaingard, and Taylor House (pictured sewing costumes in March!) to be part of this beloved story.

Plus, volunteers get a sneak peek at the whimsical world we’re building—and the satisfaction of knowing you helped send Dorothy home!
