Greenwood Little Theatre's Lease on Davis Auditorium Extended for Another 10 Years: A New Era of Quality Theater Productions
We are thrilled to announce that our lease on Davis Auditorium has been extended for another 10 years! This is fantastic news for Greenwood Little Theatre (GLT), as Davis Auditorium has been an integral part of our operations for the past two years. We are extremely grateful to the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board for allowing us to continue using this venue.
During a special called meeting, our past president, Walker Sturdivant, sought approval for a lease extension as well as improvements on the building and grounds of Davis Elementary School. The board unanimously voted to allow us to install new lighting and sound equipment and renovate seating. Additionally, the board voted 4-1 to allow us to extend our current four-year lease by another 10 years. Although one member had concerns over the districtβs reconfiguration and voted against the lease extension, we are still ecstatic about the outcome.
GLT has been producing quality theater productions for the community for 67 years, and we are proud of the five shows we have already produced in the Davis Auditorium. Currently, we are producing Seussical, Jr. which will open on April 28, 2023. With the lease extension, we can continue to provide a space for local actors and directors to showcase their talents and bring quality entertainment to the community.
The improvements to the building and grounds will ensure that the venue remains a comfortable and inviting space for both performers and audience members. We are excited to see how the new lighting and sound equipment will enhance the overall experience for our audience. With this lease extension, we can continue to produce high-quality shows and bring the community together through the power of theater.
In conclusion, we are overjoyed about our lease extension of Davis Auditorium for another 10 years. This venue has been a cornerstone of our operations, and we are excited to continue to use it to bring quality theater productions to the community. We thank the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board for their support and look forward to producing many more shows in the coming years.
