Greenwood Little Theatre Brings Dickens’ Timeless Classic to Life

Greenwood Little Theatre invites you to celebrate the 181st anniversary of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol with a production as timeless as the story itself. This faithful adaptation, directed by Luke Quinn in his directorial debut, opens on December 19, 2024—the very date the beloved novella was first published in 1843.

The play, running for four performances at Davis Elementary School Auditorium, promises a moving and visually stunning rendition of the classic tale. With an adaptation crafted by Quinn to stay true to Dickens’ original vision, audiences will experience Scrooge’s transformation and the profound message of redemption in its purest form.

Director Quinn, who grew up cherishing A Christmas Carol as a family tradition, began working on the script in March. “It will be the most faithful version of the story that you’ll ever see,” Quinn said. His script shines a spotlight on the depth of Dickens’ characters, ensuring every role, no matter how small, adds meaning to the narrative.

The production boasts a talented cast of 30, including children and adults, with some actors taking on multiple roles to bring Dickens’ 70 memorable characters to life. Among the youngest cast members is 10-year-old Isaac Dallas, playing Tiny Tim and three other roles. “What I enjoy most about this play is that it teaches the lesson of never being greedy and always helping others,” Isaac shared.

This production also explores the deeper Christian themes often underrepresented in film adaptations. Quinn emphasizes that Dickens’ message centers on “a sincere faith in Christ, which shows itself in how you treat your neighbor.” However, he assures audiences that this production balances moral beauty with artistic excellence, making it a work of art, not merely a sermon.

Tickets are available now for this must-see holiday tradition. Performances will take place at 7 p.m. on December 19 and 20, and at 2 p.m. on December 21 and 22. Don’t miss your chance to experience the transformative power of A Christmas Carol.
