A Delta Dickens Christmas: GLT Brings Victorian Holiday Cheer Downtown

The holiday spirit is alive and well in Greenwood as the first-ever Delta Dickens Christmas comes to life on December 14, 2024, blending Victorian charm with modern community celebrations. Greenwood Little Theatre (GLT) is thrilled to partner with local organizations to make this festive day one to remember!

Inspired by Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the event is a perfect lead-up to GLT’s live performances of the classic tale starting December 19 at Davis School Auditorium. GLT actors, including Glenn Nail as the iconic Ebenezer Scrooge, will be in full Victorian costume, performing scenes from the production and mingling with guests in character. Watch out for Scrooge’s “bah, humbug” grumblings—or maybe witness his transformation firsthand!

Director Luke Quinn sees this as a “happy coincidence” that aligns the event with the theatre’s holiday show. “The cast is eager to share a glimpse of the play with the community, and you might even spot a Victorian flash mob dance!” he teased.

Delta Dickens attendees can enjoy a day filled with snow globe crafting, carriage rides, Victorian-era music, and more, all while savoring treats from local vendors and food trucks. The Alluvian will host storytime for children, while Greenwood City officials serve hot chocolate and cookies nearby. The highlight of the day? A wintery snowfall outside The Alluvian, bringing a touch of holiday magic to the Delta.

We’re proud to be part of this new tradition, celebrating Greenwood’s creativity and community spirit. Join us downtown on December 14, then come see the full production of A Christmas Carol the following week. Together, let’s make this a holiday season to remember!
