Let’s create theatrical magic with some classic fairytale characters! Greenwood Little Theatre invites you to audition for our upcoming, vibrant production, “The Enchanted Bookshop.”

January 18, 20, and 21 have been canceled due to bad weather
Tuesday, January 23, 2024: 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Wednesday, January 24, 2024: 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Thursday, January 25, 2024: 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Where: Davis Elementary, 400 Cotton St., Greenwood, MS (Please enter through stage door on South side of the auditorium)
What to Prepare: To read a portion of the script and embody the characteristics of the role you’re auditioning for.
A veteran Writer & Editor, Roishina C. Henderson will make her directorial debut with the “The Enchanted Bookshop” by Todd Wallinger. This stage play is about a struggling bookstore by day that’s owned by a sweet but gullible woman, and then becomes a place where classic tale characters magically come to life by night. These mystical personalities try to devise a plan to protect the bookshop when thieves target the store and are up to no good.
This family-friendly show is suited for all ages and will be fun, entertaining and will make you reminiscent of your favorite childhood book and movie characters.
Our production seeks 23 talented cast members: 9 females, 12 males and 2 roles that can be played by male or female.
Looking for committed and enthusiastic adults and teens for most roles. Youth may audition for 2 boy roles and 2 roles of a dog and cat.

Margie: a naïve, friendly bookstore owner
Dorothy: Smart, Kansas girl from the Wizard of Oz
Mom: Nonchalant customer
Heidi: dramatic Swiss girl.
Pollyanna: young girl who can be annoying but upbeat
Book Fairy: Overbearing and ‘matter of fact’ persona
Lady in Red: peculiar, dark customer
Queen of Hearts: Royal and quick to anger
Wicked Witch of the West: Smart mouth and Dorothy’s nemesis
Male Characters
Eddie: bossy and not-so-bright
Fingers: dumb thief
Sherlock Holmes: smart, English detective
Robin Hood: classic character from Medieval times.
Timmy: the uninterested kid who rather play video games
Tom Sawyer: mischievous youth
Fagin: English thief, sneaky
Long John Silver: English pirate, treacherous
Officer Ketchum: confused policeman
Dr. Dolittle: English veterinarian/animal whisperer
Frankenstein: monster who grunts a lot
Hopalong Cassidy: upstanding cowboy

Bombalurina: Margie’s cat who likes to steal
Toto: Dorothy’s easily terrifying dog
"The Enchanted Bookshop" is slated for performance on March 22, 23 and 24, 2024.
