Linda Frymyer Perkins

Services for Linda Frymyer Perkins, 74, of Greenwood, who suddenly passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 27, 2018, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Greenwood.

Mrs. Perkins, a homemaker, was born in Greenwood to Alpha and Corean Daves Frymyer. She graduated from Greenwood High School and Delta State University, where she studied home economics.

Over the years, she was active in her church, St. John’s, and many community organizations, frequently contributing her time and resources to help make life better for others. Her associations included the Greenwood Garden Club, the Museum of the Mississippi Delta, the Pillow Academy band boosters, Altrusa International of Greenwood and Greenwood Little Theatre. She served as president of Altrusa and Little Theatre. During her GLT presidency, the theater raised $50,000 for renovations to its building.

Mrs. Perkins was a member of the GHS Class of 1962 and one of the main organizers of several of its reunions in Greenwood.

She was serious about her homemaking responsibilities and adept at cooking for her family and others. In recent years at St. John’s, she worked diligently on the publication of its “Faith, Food and Fellowship” cookbook.

Her survivors include her husband of 47 years, Earl Grady Perkins Jr., and their son, Will Perkins of Greenwood and Savannah, Georgia. She and Grady married on March 27, 1971, at St. John’s.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday in the church parlor. The Rev. Billy Ray Stonestreet will officiate at the services, and interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, with Greenwood Delta Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Abel, Hank Lamb, Bobby VanDevender, Forrest Zane Hodge, Tom Hardin and Mike Sturdivant III.

Memorials may be made to the Greenwood Little Theatre, the Humane Society shelter, St. John’s United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
