Auditions for The Outsiders Set for December

Greenwood Little Theatre is please to announce open auditions for our production of “The Outsiders” adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel from the S.E. Hinton novel, by arrangement with Dramatic Publishing Pty Ltd.

Audition Dates:
Sunday, December 8, 2019, 3-5pm, Craig Performing Arts Center, Pillow Academy Campus
Wednesday, December 11, 2019, 6-8pm, Greenwood Little Theatre, 707 Sycamore Avenue.
We will hold call backs as necessary.

Roles: 10 males (ages 15-25) & 6 females (ages 15-21). The very few adult roles will be cast within the production crew of the play.

All those trying out should read the classic book, "The Outsiders" by S. E. Hinton or watch the movie by Sophia Coppola, prior to auditions.

Production Dates: March 26-29, 2020.

The Outsiders is a coming-of-age novel by S. E. Hinton, first published in 1967. Hinton was 15 when she started writing the novel but did most of the work when she was 16 and a junior in high school. Hinton was 18 when the book was published. The book details the conflict between two rival gangs divided by their socioeconomic status: the working-class "greasers" and the upper-class "Socs". The story is told in first-person perspective by teenaged protagonist Ponyboy Curtis.

The play will be rated PG-13 due to the violence, death and dying scenes.
