A Celebration of Creativity: Greenwood Little Theatre’s Arts Gala

One of 17 “Painted Ladies” Available for Purchase

Greenwood Little Theatre (GLT) is thrilled to announce an extraordinary evening of art, culture, and community at the Celebration of the Arts Gala. This event is set to take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Museum of the Mississippi Delta, located at 1608 Highway 82 West, Greenwood, MS.

This special event is more than just a gathering—it’s a tribute to the remarkable talent in Mississippi and a showcase of how art brings people together.

Event Highlights

Garden Trail Exhibit
The evening will feature a stunning display of 17 statues, each a unique work of art created by talented Mississippi artists. These 4.5-foot resin sculptures, inspired by the intricate beauty of the Porcelain Room at the Summer Palace in Aranjuez, Spain, have been painted and adorned by artists using a variety of techniques and mediums.

Live Auction
The highlight of the evening is a live auction, where these one-of-a-kind statues will be available for bidding. Greenwood Little Theatre encourages local businesses to purchase these statues and display them in public spaces, making art accessible to the community.

Cocktails and Hors d’Oeuvres
Enjoy complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres provided by GLT volunteers. The cocktail hour begins at 6 PM, followed by the awards presentation at 6:40 PM and the auction at 7 PM.

These artists have poured their creativity into each piece, using techniques like decoupage, textured paint, and intricate embellishments. Their work highlights the depth of artistic talent in the Mississippi Delta and beyond.

Why It Matters

Public art has the power to transform communities, and this gala aims to enrich Greenwood and the Mississippi Delta by bringing these statues into public view. Proceeds from the auction will support Greenwood Little Theatre’s efforts to continue providing live theatre and creative opportunities to our region.

Ashley Farmer, a driving force behind the project and a leader in the Mississippi arts community, says it best:

“This initiative is a fantastic celebration of the arts, not only highlighting the immense talent in Greenwood but also benefiting the Greenwood Little Theatre, which serves as a cornerstone for creativity in the community.”
